For example, a popular trend in exterior home design is using pallets as vertical gardens. Used candle containers can be transformed into glass succulent planters or terrariums. Used k-cup pods can also serve as tiny plant holders. These also make great personalized gifts at little to no cost to you!When you come across an old item in your garage or a yard sale treasure, think of the ways in which you could update it and reuse it in your home design.
• Make spray paint your best friend. An old chest of drawers can be modernized with a fresh coat of paint. Spray paint is a great tool that allows you to easily repurpose objects from around the house. A bookshelf or end table can quickly be transformed into a contemporary piece with sandpaper and spray paint. Pick your favorite color, prep, and paint yourself some new statement pieces.
• Use what you have. If you’re an avid wine drinker, transform your used bottles into a unique centerpiece. Wine bottles can quickly be transformed into sophisticated vases for flower arrangements, decorative feathers, or candlesticks. Peel the label off the wine bottle, then fill a portion of the bottle with sand, pebbles, or glass beads. Add the accessory of your choice and you have eclectic table decor you can’t find in a store!  
• Keep it simple. Using recyclable products in home design is a simple way to spruce up your décor on a budget. By using things you already own, you save a trip to the store and make time for a crafty project.
