Creating a Luxury Spa in Your Master Bathroom

Jul 5

Creating a luxury spa in your master bathroom is about more than just installing a tub. In order to create a spa-like atmosphere, you will need to use warm design details to give the space a relaxing and romantic feel. Not all of these ideas require a remodel, but be careful before starting a large and complex do it yourself project!

Accents:  The atmosphere in a smaller room, like a bathroom, is easily affected by the smaller details. To create a luxurious feel, consider using limestone, wood, or textured tile. These accents enhance the space and make your bathroom feel clean. Many spas decorate with a very simple color scheme of whites and creams with a few pastel greens. A simple color palette is easy to work with and will make your space feel much bigger than it is.

Illuminated Space: Bathrooms are often times one of the most lit areas in a home.  Instead of simply relying on standard overhead lighting, adding illuminated storage will give your bathroom extra brightness. If it’s possible, you may want to also add a window or emphasize your existing window to utilize natural lighting. Giving your bathroom so extra illumination will truly make it glow.

Frosted Glass Cabinets:  Frosted glass cabinets are a staple in many spas. These cabinets typically include wood finishes and chrome accents for the handles, and contain a piece of frosted glass in the middle. Using frosted glass can show off your organizational skills and give your storage some structure.

Frameless Showers: Frameless showers have become increasingly popular in recent years. These showers have clean, sharp edges and feel less intruding than a framed shower. If you truly want to create a home spa, consider getting an enclosed steam shower for your home.

Two Person Bath: If you want to make your master bathroom more romantic, you and your partner may want to include a two person bath. A larger bath will comfortably fit two people and looks inviting. Larger baths don’t always have to be for two people. A large bubble bath can be one of the most relaxing ways to enjoy your master bathroom.

Plants: As a final touch, consider adding some greenery to your bathroom. A few simple plants give your space some color and freshen up the atmosphere!
